1 x Large translucent opal walkways @ 4mtr (free span) & 2.5mtr (free span) x 35mtr, which included a small tapering section, incorporation locking system LS2.2. See design loads, which shows you in more detail the different locking systems available.
Our panels simply clip together making the installation process very rapid, as our product only requires to be joined every 600mm on site. The Everbright panels were supplied in various lengths and in 600mm configurations. Locking System LS2.2 weight and dead load calculations = 10 kg/sqm with a dead load of 1.01kN/sqm.
The total project area was approximately 180 square meters.
Everbright E610 Opal was installed recently on this new development. These new translucent walkways feature our modern translucent roofing system that now protects all the staff and pupils from the weather and provides a unique design feature. The Everbright E610 product was used on this project and allows the natural light to penetrate through proving a pleasant environment. This illuminated and brighten up this location, which otherwise would have been a dark space.
The design brief for this development was for a modern looking translucent system, that would provide clear unsupported spans. An important consideration due to the nature of the project was for a product that had superior performance characteristics. Our product was selected due to the heavy duty nature of our 74mm polycarbonate panels and free span capabilities.
The specification also stipulated a system that was fully trafficable, without requiring the need for safety mesh to be installed underneath, as with traditional products spoiling the visual appearance. Additional clients instructions were for a product that had large free span capabilities, superior thermal and acoustic performance. Another key factor was for a product which has a long life span. Makrolon 1243 is the material used in our polycarbonate roofing system, which is part of the worldwide Bayer Group.
Everbright E610 comes with a manufacture’s worldwide 15 year warranty and the panels have a life expectancy in excess of 35 years.
Opal was the colour selected with 65% light transmissions.
The Everbright E610 system gives a unique visual appearance and minimizes structural requirements making use of all the natural light available. Since less structure is required with our system less shadows are created, and as such the natural light translucency is at its full potential, making our system an excellent selection for this new development.
Our polycarbonate system give a seamless and continuous line, with no steel frame work spoiling the visual effect. E610 Integral locking bars hide the aspect of where a panel starts and where it finishes, so it becomes a continuous system giving a uniformed and conformed design feature. Creating an architectural flare, that isn't possible with any other polycarbonate system available on the market. Our system only needs to be secured with washer and screw fixings provided to both the lower and higher end of the panels, all the joints are self sealing once the integral locking bar is fitted. Other systems would necessitate the need for a framed grid work support system across the entire roof.
Everbright E610 polycarbonate panels incorporate as standard detailing an excellent safety factor. All loading criteria are based on 0.75kN/sqm and a 50% safety factor as part of a standard specification detailing. The installation process is very rapid and simple with our polycarbonate system. We can also advise that there was a significant cost saving on the structure requirements on this project.
