Translucent Canopy Roof Extension Baldivis Secondary College Western Australia

Everbright E610 Ice White was used as large translucent canopy extension at Baldivis Secondary College, Perth, WA .  The development consisted of 2 x flat mono pitched roof sections @ 26mtr lengths x 25mtr with a stepped purlin arrangement. The free span of the panels was 4mtr with our locking system LS2.2. See design loads, which shows you in more detail the different locking systems available.

Our panels simply clip together making the installation process very rapid, as our product only requires to be joined every 600mm on site.

The total area was approximately 650 square meters.

Ice White was the colour selected due to 55% percent light transmissions for visible light.


The design brief for this development was for a modern looking translucent system, which would utilize all the nature light available. The design intention was for the canopy extension to enhance the whole development with a clean modern look, while creating the correct ambience for the students and staff at the college.

Due to the nature of this arcade the client was looking for a product that was self cleaning, impact resistance and had a long life span.

Several other key factors also included a product that was 100% fully trafficable and had superior fire performance characteristics. Our product was selected due to the heavy duty nature of our 74mm polycarbonate panels and our products resistance to hazardous fire conditions. Our product does not ignite, produce flaming droplets or release dangerous smoke emissions in the extreme fire situations.

Another major stipulation was for the selected material to have superior thermal and acoustic performance characteristics.

Furthermore our system is rapid to install, which helped keep to the builders stringent deadline.

Everbright E610's increased free span capabilities, made our polycarbonate system an excellent choice for this development giving the desired effect, as it is one of the strongest translucent materials available in the world today.


Our polycarbonate system give a seamless and continuous line, with no steel frame work spoiling the visual effect. E610 Integral locking bars hide the aspect of where a panel starts and where it finishes, so it becomes a continuous system giving a uniformed and conformed design feature. Creating an architectural flare, that isn't possible with any other polycarbonate system available on the market. Our system only needs to be secured with washer and screw fixings provided to both the lower and higher end of the panels, all the joints are self sealing once the integral locking bar is fitted. Other systems would necessitate the need for a framed grid work support system across the entire roof.

E610 polycarbonate panels incorporate an excellent safety factor. All loading criteria are based on 0.75kN/sqm and a 50% safety factor as part of a standard specification detailing.
